In the fourth quarter of 2022, the top 5 social networking apps on iOS in Europe showed diverse performance trends in terms of downloads, revenue, and active users, based on data from Sensor Tower.

BeReal: Photos & Friends Daily started the quarter strong with over 1M downloads in early October, but saw a gradual decline, ending December with around 440K weekly downloads. Active users for BeReal increased from approximately 9M at the beginning of the quarter to over 11M by the end of December.

WhatsApp Messenger maintained a stable performance in downloads, peaking at 1M weekly downloads in late December. Revenue showed a slight upward trend, reaching around $150 weekly in late November. Active users remained relatively steady, fluctuating around 133M throughout the quarter.

Telegram Messenger experienced a consistent revenue increase, culminating in approximately $252K in the last week of December. Weekly downloads were stable, averaging around 500K, with a notable spike to 547K in the final week of the year. Active users hovered around 47M, with minor fluctuations.

Facebook saw a steady revenue stream, averaging around $75K to $85K weekly. Downloads were consistent, with a significant increase to 468K in the last week of December. Active users remained high, fluctuating slightly around 97M.

Messenger had stable download figures, averaging around 270K weekly, with a peak of nearly 396K in the last week of December. Active users showed a gradual increase from 53M to over 54M by the end of the quarter.
